Crystal Bridge Tropical Conservatory
The Crystal Bridge Tropical Conservatory is the centerpiece of the Myriad Botanical Gardens, a 17-acre park in downtown Oklahoma City. The bridge is another example of structural engineering merging with architectural design. Upon entering, visitors experience the warm, humid air of a rainforest. A cloud-making system was specially engineered to provide the environment necessary for the rainforest to flourish. A path alongside a 35-foot waterfall leads up a "mountain" of natural-looking rock formations, which were created by taking latex molds from actual rock outcroppings. Along the skywalk, one encounters other exotic gardens--and animals.
