Pendleton Woolen Mills

Pendleton is a vertically integrated company, and engineers play an important role in each step of the process, beginning with grading, sorting, and scouring the raw wool. State-of-the-art technology for fabric production includes dying, carding, spinning, weaving, and finishing. Apparel production requires pattern grading, marker making, cutting, fusing, sewing, and pressing. Many of these processes, which used to be labor intensive, are electronically controlled or assisted. Sophisticated information systems control the flow of raw materials through production as well as the carefully timed release of finished products to the market place.
