Kathy Renzetti

Kathy Renzetti has more than 29 years of experience working with small to mid-sized organizations with 22 years of experience focused on nonprofits and philanthropy. Currently she serves as Executive Director for DiscoverE, with a dual mission of celebrating the accomplishments of engineers and engaging K-12 students in engineering.

In her position at The Giving Collaborative from 2015-2019, she provided personalized counsel to nonprofit organizations across the United States. She partnered with organizations to give their philanthropy programs the necessary tools to maximize potential including directing initiatives for several capital campaigns ranging in size from $1.5-$40 million; conducting feasibility studies and organizational audits; and providing best practice and strategy for annual, major and planned giving programs, as well as board structure and governance.

Previously, Kathy Renzetti worked as the chief strategic officer for the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy and its foundation overseeing the $3-$4 million operating budget. During her tenure the association doubled in size. She was instrumental in educating lawmakers to remove language detrimental to the fundraising industry from the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) before its passage.

Renzetti earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia. She has been a member of the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) since 2005 and earned her CAE in 2009. She was a member of the Public Policy Committee of the Independent Sector from 2013-2015. She has written articles on critical success factors in philanthropy and serves on the board of the United States Tennis Association Mid-Atlantic Section (USTA MAS), NSPE Education Foundation and the Business Women’s Giving Circle of the Community Foundation of Northern Virginia.
