Rick Guerra

Rick Guerra is Chief Executive Officer and majority shareholder of Jose I. Guerra, Inc., a full-service facility engineering consulting firm with offices in Austin, San Antonio, and Corpus Christi, Texas. The firm provides a comprehensive range of civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection services to clients throughout the State of Texas.

In addition to his career and business pursuits, Rick has been a passionate advocate and volunteer for the engineering profession for over three decades. As an active member of NSPE since 1994, he has served in numerous leadership roles at the chapter, state, and national levels, including President of the Texas Society of Professional Engineers in 2016-17, and President of the National Society of Professional Engineers in 2021-22. In 2018 he was named a NSPE Fellow.

Rick received his BS in Mechanical Engineering in 1982 and his MS in Engineering in 1988, both from the University of Texas at Austin. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in Texas and California. In 2007, Rick was appointed by Governor Rick Perry as the Licensed Professional Engineer Member of the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners, where he served until 2019.

Rick is a native “Austinite” and loyal Longhorn. As evidenced by the way he spends his time, his passions are his faith, family, people, and the engineering profession. He stays very active in his church, his community, and various activities with his wife, four children, and one grandchild, while continuing to promote the engineering profession and grow a successful engineering practice.
